Top-Ranked Huskies Defeat ESU, 3-0

BLOOMSBURG- The number one nationally ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team improved to 8-0 on the season as they downed the Warriors of East Stroudsburg, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Huskies improve to 3-0 in the PSAC East while East Stroudsburg drops to 2-6 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.

The Huskies controlled the first half of play as play took mostly in the Warriors defensive half. Bloomsburg was able to fire 10 shots in the first half while only allowing two shots by East Stroudsburg.

Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top, Crestwood) broke into the game as she scored off an assist from Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE, Sussex Technical) at the 26:43 mark putting the Huskies up 1-0.

Neither team would score as the half closed out in favor of the Huskies, 1-0.

Fifteen scoreless minutes would go by in the second half before Jaclyn Beasley (Berlin, NJ, Eastern)increased the lead for the Huskies as she scored her fifth goal of the season.  Danz would be credited with her second assist of the game, putting the score at 2-0.

Nicole Bruce (Dalton, Lackawanna Trail) would add a goal in the victory as she found the back of the cage at the 69:45 mark, which would lead to the Huskies straight eighth win of the season.

BU goalie Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon, Fleetwood) recorded a shutout as she made six saves in the contest, while her counterpart Maureen Ordnung stopped 10 of the Huskies shots.

Bloomsburg will look to continue their winning streak as they host Kutztown in PSAC East action on Tuesday, September 27th. Game time is set for 7 pm.
