Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime, 4-3

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell on Sunday afternoon in overtime against the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan, 4-3. With the loss the Huskies drop to 1-4-1 on the season while the Bobcats improve to 5-2.

The scoring for the Huskies started 17 minutes into the contest, when Anthony Manero (Richboro, Council Rock North) headed the ball to Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg, Gettysburg Area) where he put the ball to the bottom left corner of the net.

Bloomsburg then took a 2-0 lead at the 26:44 mark when Shaffer chipped in a shot over goalkeeper Ryan McDougall off a feed from Manero.

With less than six minutes left in the first half, sophomore Brendan Gorman (Hatfield, North Penn) shot one to the back of the net after receiving the ball off a deflection, putting the Huskies up 3-0.

In the second half, the Bobcats would score off a penalty shot less than five minutes in when Daniel Smee fired one to the left side of the net past BU's goalkeeper Ramon Lobo Jr. (Dillsburg, Northern).
West Viriginia Wesleyan narrowed the score to 3-2 at the 57:43 mark when Jacob Maitland passed the ball to Liam Maloney for a Bobcats goal.

The Bobcats would tie up the game at 3-3 off a header with less than two minutes left in regulation play.

With less than three minutes into overtime Diego Michelato would dribble the ball to the right side of Lobo Jr. and put the ball to the back of the net for a 4-3 Bobcats victory.

West Virginia Wesleyan outshot the Huskies 17-10, while Lobo Jr. made four saves for the Huskies on the day.

Bloomsburg will look to bounce back as they travel to Slippery Rock on Friday, September 30 for a 3:30 pm start.
