Men's Soccer Edges Slippery Rock, 1-0

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team earned their second PSAC win of the season as they defeated Slippery Rock 1-0.  Frank Dineen (St. Simons Island, GA/Frederica Academy) scored the game's only goal as the Huskies improved to 2-4-1 on the season.

Neither team would score in the first half as Slippery Rock outshot Bloomsburg 5-3 in the half.  BU keeper Bernie Roell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) came up with three first half saves to keep Slippery Rock off the scoreboard. 

In the second half Frank Dineen (St. Simons Island, GA/Frederica Academy) would break the scoreless game with a goal in the 68th minute.  BU's Fran Miller (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) picked up the assist on the eventual game winner. 

Slippery Rock almost doubled the Huskies in shots during the second half as they launched 13 to Bloomsburg's seven.  In the end the Huskies would make the most of their chances with only two of their shots making it on net, one of which was the game winner. 

Roell finished today's contest with seven saves in 90 minutes of action while his counterpart Timothy White made one save.  With the loss Slippery Rock falls to 3-4-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the PSAC while Bloomsburg improves to 2-1-1 in the PSAC.

The Huskies will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Lock Haven tomorrow, October 1st for a PSAC match-up.  Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Lock Haven, PA.
