BLOOMSBURG–Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) scored a team-high 21 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 72-65 win over the Kutztown Golden Bears.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 16-4 on the year and 10-4 in PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) play. The Bears record drops to 6-14 overall and 4-10 in the PSAC.

Bloomsburg welcomed back to the lineup senior Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) who had missed four games with a foot injury. Gallagher wasted little time making her presence known as she scored the first two points of the game for Bloomsburg 45 seconds into the contest.

With 13:40 remaining in the first half, Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) scored a layup on an assist by Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) to put the team up 9-8. From that point on, the Huskies would not trail in the game. The layup started off a 9-2 run by Bloomsburg that would be capped off by a couple of made free throws by Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) with 9:21 to go in the half.

Wieller hit a three pointer with 7:49 remaining in the half that would start off another 9-2 Huskies' run. That run was finished off by an Alyssa Flanagan (Freeland/Hazleton Area) jump shot off courtesy of an assist by Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley), putting the team up 27-15. Oxenrider finished as the team's second leading scorer with 14 points and had a season-high six steals.

After finishing the first half up 30-19, the Huskies quickly added to their lead in the second as Gallagher hit two free throws in the first 30 seconds of the half.

Oxenrider drove to the basket, hitting a layup with 16:28 to go in the game and capping off a 12-2 run that put the Huskies up 43-23, their second largest lead of the game.

Three minutes later, the team would take its largest lead of the game at 21 points after Danielle Derr (Dresner/Upper Dublin) hit a jump shot and Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) followed with a three pointer to put the Huskies up 51-30.

Kutztown started to climb back into the game in the final five minutes of play with a 13-2 run that cut the score to eight. After a few made free throws by Gallagher and Oxenrider, the Golden Bears ripped off another run that cut the score to 66-61 with just 1:19 to play.
The Huskies were able to hold on the lead, however, as Wieller hit all four of her free throw attempts in the final minute to seal the victory.

Along with Wieller's 17 points, Oxenrider finished with 12 points, while Noack contributed nine points for Bloomsburg in the game. Avery Hodgson scored a team-high 16 points for Kutztown.

The Huskies travel to Millersville on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game against the Marauders.
