Men’s Soccer Rated Tenth in Atlantic Region by NSCAA

Chris Pawlowski scored the game-winning goal against Shippensburg last weekend.

BLOOMSBURG – The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team are ranked tenth in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskies (7-6-1 overall, 2-3-1 PSAC) are coming off a momentum-building, 3-2 win over Shippensburg on Saturday on their home turf.  Freshman Chris Pawlowski (Philadelphia/LaSalle) scored the game-winning goal for BU to break a 2-2 tie in the 78th minute.  It was the first goal of his career.

Senior Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) scored a pair of goals in the victory and is second on the team with five this season.  It elevated his career total to 27, placing him tied for fifth on the BU all-time scoring list.

Junior Fran Miller (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) leads the Huskies with six goals and 15 points.  He's scored in four games this season and has two multi-goal games.

Fellow junior Anthony Manero (Richboro/Council Rock North) and freshman Spencer Conrad (Enola/East Pennsboro) have each tallied four goals in 2012 and will look to remain active in the Husky attack to help push Bloomsburg towards the postseason.

Junior goalkeepers Ramon Lobo Jr. (Dillsburg/Northern) and Bernie Roell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) have each seen time in net this season.  Lobo has four wins in goal with two shutouts and a team-leading 30 saves.  Roell has started in five matches and has made 26 saves for a 74.3 save percentage.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 16 under the lights to face defending PSAC Champion Millersville at 7:30 p.m. at Sports Stadium.  The teams last met in the PSAC Championship game last year, with Millersville earning a 1-0 victory.
