BLOOMSBURG – The Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked fifth in the latest Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches Poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskies (9-3 overall, 3-1 PSAC East) are coming off a 1-2 week and dropped two spots in the national rankings with one of its losses coming at the hands of second-ranked Shippensburg.  BU opened the week with a 6-1 win over Kutztown and closed the week with a 4-2 loss to Mansfield.

West Chester (9-1) is number one in the poll followed by Shippensburg (11-1), Indiana (PA) (10-2), University of Massachusetts Lowell (9-1) and Bloomsburg.

Bloomsburg is averaging 3.58 goals per game this season, good for fifth in Division II.  However, the Huskies failed to reach this mark in its last two combined games despite outshooting both Shippensburg and Mansfield.

Leading the Huskies in scoring is senior Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood).  Her 12 scores and goal per game average rate seventh in Division II.  She needs one more to tie her career-high of 13 set last season.

Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) has a team-leading six assists, good for tenth in Division II.  She has assisted in four games including a trio against East Stroudsburg on Sept. 22.

In goal, junior Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) has started all 12 games for Bloomsburg.  She's made 54 saves and holds a save percentage of .720.

Bloomsburg looks to regain some momentum on its home turf this week. It returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 3 to host LIU Post at 4 p.m. at Sports Stadium.  Wednesday's game will mark BU's 'Play 4 the Cure' campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer.
