Men's Soccer Team Closes Out Season With Win

EAST STROUDSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team closed out its 2012 season on a winning note scoring a 3-0 victory over East Stroudsburg on Saturday night. With the win the Huskies finish with a record of 9-8-1, 3-5-1 in the PSAC.
 
The Huskies got on the board in the 13th minute when Fran Miller (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) scored his 10th goal of the season giving Bloomsburg the early edge.
 
Bloomsburg added to its lead just before halftime when Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) scored off an assist from Miguel Diaz (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) at the 34:24 mark.
 
Defensively the Huskies goalie Bernie Roell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) was outstanding with eight saves in the opening 35 minutes of play.
 
In the second half the Huskies closed out the scoring in the 71st minute when Matt Zima (Newtown/Council Rock North) scored unassisted. In goal Roell stopped three second half shots to earn the shutout victory.

For Shaffer, the goal in his final game as a Huskie, was the 29th of his career, tying him for fourth all-time (with Toby Rank) in school history.
