Huskies Soccer to Red Card Cancer

Red Card Cancer night at recent DC United v NY Red Bulls MLS match held Aug 29
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's soccer teams will be playing to raise awareness for cancer Saturday, Oct. 6 against Lock Haven in the school's annual Red Card Cancer game.

The Red Card Cancer program was established by Huskies head coach Paul Payne in 2009 to raise awareness about cancer in the soccer community and raise funds for research.  All proceeds go to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine.

The program is now in its fourth season and the message is also carried by D.C. United of Major League Soccer.

The BU women's team kicks off the event at 1 p.m. against the Lady Eagles.  The men's team then faces the Bald Eagles at 3:30 p.m.

There will be shirts for a $15 donation to the cause throughout the day.  Shirts will also be sold on lower campus, Friday, Oct. 5 outside the Student Service Center.
