EDINBORO—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team opened the dual meet portion of its 2012-13 season with a 7-2 win over Edinboro University on Friday.
The Huskies opened the day taking two of the three doubles matches to go up 2-1. Aida Dioop and
Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) won at number one 8-5 with
Erin Reitenauer (Whitehall/Whitehall) and
Caitlin Flynn (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) scoring an 8-3 win at number three.
At that point the rains came and halted play forcing the teams to sit out a lengthy delay before going inside to finish the match in the evening.
When play resumed with the singles competition, the Huskies got a win from Perez at number one who scored a 6-2, 6-3 victory followed by wins at number three from
Natalie Greenholt (Hanover/South Western); Flynn at number four;
Lindsey Tennis (Quakertown/Quakertown) at five and
Alyssa Liples (Swoyersville/Holy Redeemer) at number six.
Bloomsburg, 1-0, will be back in action on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Mercyhurst.
