Bloomsburg Falls to Cal in Men's Soccer

Box Score BOX SCORE

CALIFORNIA (PA)—In a battle of regionally ranked teams the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team lost to California (PA) by a score of 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vulcans, ranked sixth in this week's NSCAA Atlantic Regional rankings, jumped out to the early lead going up 1-0 on a goal by Tyler Woolum with Jeffrey Kyel getting the assist in the eighth minute of play.

It looked like the game would be 1-0 at the break, but Cal scored just before halftime when Brad Colvin scored off a Christopher Karns assist to lead 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half the Huskies, ranked eighth in this week's regional poll,  had a couple of shots on goal, two on headers by Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg), but each shot missed the mark. The Vulcans would then make it a 3-0 game when Kyel scored in the 75th minute of action.

Cal would add on two goals in the final 10 minutes of play to make the final 5-0.

Bloomsburg held a 3-0 edge in corner kicks, but was outshot 17-10 for the game.

The Huskies, now 6-6-1, 1-3-1 in the PSAC, will host Shippensburg on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sports Stadium.
