BLOOMSBURG—Senior guard Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) scored a team-high 16 points to lead four players in double figures as the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team stayed unbeaten by knocking off Wilmington University, 96-55, on Monday night in a non-conference matchup at Nelson Field House.

The Huskies (3-0) raced out of the gate quickly opening a double-digit lead, 14-4, just four and a half minutes into play with Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) scoring six points for the home team.

Then, using a suffocating defense that forced Wilmington (0-6) into turnovers and missed shots, Bloomsburg stretched that lead to 23-8 on Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty)'s three-pointer with 10:07 left in the half.

Later in the half with the Huskies leading 29-14, Bloomsburg went on a 21-4 run over the next six and a half minutes to put the game out of reach. The Huskies used balanced scoring to extend the lead with six players getting at least one bucket with Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) scoring four points and Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) and Maggie Borski (Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy) each hitting a three-pointer.

"It's a great tribute to our team play," sophomore guard Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) commented on BU's 23 assists.  "We like to share the ball on offense and we really did a great job of playing together tonight."

For the half, Bloomsburg forced Wilmington into 17 turnovers and 29 percent shooting from the floor.

In the second half of play the Huskies continued to build upon their lead with Wieller netting 11 of her 16 points in just five minutes of play in the final 20 minutes of action. Wieller opened the half with a three-pointer, then hit a second three-pointer that pushed the Huskies lead to 40 points, 66-26, with 15:10 to play in the game.

Bloomsburg would lead by as many as 52 points, 93-41, with 4:49 to play before the Wildcats closed the game on a 14-3 run to make the final, 96-55.

Along with Wieller's 16 points, Ellis finished with 15 points with Ford getting a career-high 13 and Oxenrider 11 for Bloomsburg.

"It was a complete team effort tonight and it's always great to go out and get a big win," Ford said.  "Going into PSAC-play this weekend, I think it was important for us to play that well together."

Tenicia Spence scored a game-high 23 points for Wilmington, while Callie Tambling added 12 points.

The Huskies will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 1 hosting Slippery Rock at 1 p.m.
