BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team (5-5, 1-0 PSAC East) earned their first conference win of the season as the pounded Millersville (3-9, 1-1 PSAC East), 8-1. Bloomsburg won all six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.
The Huskies entered single play after earning wins at first and third doubles. At first doubles,
Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) and
Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) teamed up for an 8-3 win while
Natalie Greenholt (Hanover/South Western) and
Nicole Slagle (Irwin/Penn Trafford) paired up for a dominant 8-1 showing at third.
Singles action was pretty routine for the Huskies as they won all six matches in straight sets. Perez picked up her 11th straight victory of the season as tallied a 6-3, 6-0 win at first singles while doubles partner Palko earned her ninth straight victory with a 6-1, 6-4 showing at the second spot.
Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) and Greenholt both had tough first sets but were able to control the second sets for victories. Walsh was a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 winner at third singles and Greenholt claimed a 7-5, 6-0 win at fourth singles.
Slagle handled her opponent at the fifth spot with a 6-2, 6-3 win. Freshman
Erin Reitenauer (Whitehall/Whitehall) dropped just one game en route to her fifth singles win of the season as she won 6-1, 6-0.
Bloomsburg will be back in action on Monday, April 2nd as the Huskies host the Golden Rams of West Chester for a PSAC East showdown. Match-time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Bloomsburg, PA.
