BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team (6-5, 2-0 PSAC East) earned up their second conference win of the year as they downed West Chester (6-8, 1-2 PSAC East), 7-2.
Bloomsburg ran through the doubles matches, winning all three matches to take a 3-0 lead entering singles play. The Huskies picked up 8-5 and 8-4 wins at first and second doubles while the combination of
Nicole Slagle (Irwin/Penn Trafford) and
Natalie Greenholt (Hanover/South Western) earned an 8-1 victory at the third spot.
At first singles
Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) posted a 6-2, 6-0 win making it her seventh straight singles victory of the season.
Erin Reitenauer (Whitehall/Whitehall) was also a straight set winner at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Three of the remaining four singles matches were three setters as Bloomsburg picked up three set wins at the second and third positions.
Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) pulled out a tight 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 win at the second spot. After dropping the first set at 6-3,
Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) rallied to take the second set at 6-1 and eventually the third 10-5.
The Huskies will have a quick turnaround as they hit the road tomorrow to take on the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University in a 3:30 p.m. match.
