Huskies Power Past East Stroudsburg in Women’s Tennis, 7-2

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team (7-5, 3-0 PSAC East) continued their winning ways with a 7-2 victory over the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University (1-14, 0-3 PSAC East).

Bloomsburg opened today's match by taking two of the three doubles matches as the Huskies picked up wins at first and third doubles.  The first doubles combination of Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) and Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) teamed up for an 8-3 win, their seventh straight of the season.  Meanwhile, Natalie Greenholt (Hanover/South Western) and Nicole Slagle (Irwin/Penn Trafford) battled their way to a 9-7 win at the three spot. 

In singles play Bloomsburg won from second singles all the way down to sixth.  Palko blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at second singles making it her sixth straight singles victory of the year. 

After winning the first set at love, Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) had to work in the second set to pull out a 6-0, 6-4 win at third singles.  Greenholt did not concede a game as she powered her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles. 

At the fifth spot Slagle won her third match of the season in 6-2, 6-1 fashion while freshman Erin Reitenauer (Whitehall/Whitehall) earned her seventh win of the year at sixth singles, 8-0.  With the singles wins Bloomsburg improves to 3-0 in the PSAC East. 

The Huskies will be back in action this Friday, April 6th as the Huskies take on George Mason in a 3:00 p.m. match.
