NYACK, NY—The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped its season opener on Thursday to Mercy College by a score of 1-0 at the Nyack College Tournament.
The Huskies, coming off a season in which it finished second in the PSAC, battled hard for 90 minutes.
In the opening half the teams statistically were nearly even with Mercy getting five shots to four for the Huskies, but with no score for either team. The scoreless game was then broken in the 79
th minute when Mercy's William Kotl scored off an assist from Mustaffa Alobeidy.

Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) had a ball cleared off the goal line with 12 seconds to play which would have forced overtime.
Huskies goalie
Bernie Roell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone), a second team All-PSAC selection a year ago, made four saves for Bloomsburg in the game.
Bloomsburg, 0-1, will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Nyack facing Roberts Wesleyan College.
