Aulenbach’s Pair of Goals Pushes Huskies to Win over Stonehill

Senior Amber Aulenbach leads Bloomsburg with three goals through the first two games.
Box Score EASTON, Ma. – Senior Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) gave the Bloomsburg University field hockey the lead in the opening minutes of Saturday's non-conference contest against Stonehill College.  Aulenbach and the Huskies made the most of the early goal to push it to a 6-2 victory at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Aulenbach was one of two Huskies (2-0 overall) to notch two goals in BU's first road game of the season.  Fellow senior Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) also scored two goals against the Skyhawks (0-1) to give her a team-leading three goals on the year.

Bloomsburg took an early 1-0 advantage just over four minutes into play.  Aulenbach's first goal of the season came at the 4:08 mark off an assist from Cassie DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood).

Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) and Cassie DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) rounded out the first half scoring for the Huskies.  The duo each scored a goal before the 26th minute of play to give Bloomsburg a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

Junior goalkeeper Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) kept the Skyhawks scoreless through the first 35 minutes.  For the game, she made six saves to improve her record to 2-0.

Stonehill's Emily Coholan put the Skyhawks on the board with a goal in the 46th minute to cut the Husky lead to 3-1.  However, it wouldn't take long for Bloomsburg to grow the lead back to three.

One minute, three seconds after the SC goal, Aulenbach was awarded a penalty stroke.  She punched the ball through the left side to give BU a 4-1 advantage.

Freshman Kara Hartman (York Haven/Redland) and Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) each scored in the final ten minutes to close the scoring for the Huskies.  Hartman and Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) used some precise passing close to the cage to get Hartman the first goal of her career in just her second game played.

Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) and Stonehill's Emily Sideris traded goals just 17 seconds apart in the 69th minute.

Bloomsburg continues its road trip through the northeast on Sunday as it travels to Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
