Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision to Mercyhurst

Box Score BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision Saturday evening against Mercyhurst University.
 
The Huskies (3-3 overall, 0-2 PSAC) were first on the board with a goal by junior, Anthony Manero (Richboro/Council Rock North) assisted by junior Theo Guillory (McKnightstown/Gettysburg) in the seventh minute of play.  The goal marks Manero's second of the season and Guillory's first assist.
 
Mercyhurst tied the game when Ryan Lund scored on a pass from Sam Dorf for the Lakers (3-3, 2-0) in the 78th minute.  Austin Solomon scored the game winner, assisted by Frenando Martinez at 85:29.
 
In goal for Bloomsburg, junior Ramon Lobo Jr. (Dillsburg/Northern) earned his second start of the season making three saves.
 
BU finished the game with seven shots and two corner kicks.  MU recorded 16 shots and four corner kicks.
 
Before the game the Huskies honored the team's four seniors; Matt Kaupp (Newtown/Archbishop Wood), John Owens (Jamison/Central Bucks East), Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg), and Alex Ruhfass (Newtown/Council Rock North), along with the late Brian Savage.
 
Bloomsburg's next game is home Saturday, Sept. 22 against Ohio Valley University (1-3) with a 7:00 p.m. start time.
