Bloomsburg Closes Weekend with Setback to W. Va. Wesleyan

Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Junior midfielder Fran Miller (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season Sunday, but the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to West Virginia Wesleyan in the final game of its weekend road trip in West Virginia.

Miller's goal in the 30th minute brought the Huskies (5-5) to within one after the Bobcats (7-2) opened up to a 2-0 lead through the first 26:53.

The junior has now scored three goals in as many games for Bloomsburg as he netted a pair of scores against Chestnut Hill last Monday.  Miller's fourth goal of the season ties a career-high set last season.

Matthew Brown had a hat-trick for Wesleyan.  After scoring the first two goals of the game, Brown answered the Miller first-half strike with his third of the day after halftime.  His goal in the 64th minute put the Huskies in a two-goal deficit and unfortunately, was not able to climb out of it.

Two of Wesleyan's five goals came by penalty kicks.  It outshot Bloomsburg 12-4, including 8-1 in the second half.

Junior goalkeeper Ramon Lobo Jr. (Dillsburg/Northern) started his team-leading sixth game of the season in net for the Huskies.  He made a pair of saves and now has 16 on the year.

Bloomsburg returns to action and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Wednesday, Oct. 3 as it travels to Slippery Rock (2-3) for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
