Huskies Roll Past Lock Haven in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG--The 25th-ranked Bloomsburg University women's basketball team rolled over Lock Haven University 80-53 Friday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover contest.
 
The Huskies got off to a fast start scoring the game's first 17 points before the Lady Eagles got on the board with 14:40 to play in the half. Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) scored six points in the opening five minutes with Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) adding five for Bloomsburg.
 
Bloomsburg's hot shooting continued throughout the half as the Huskies shot 64 percent from the field (16-25) in the opening 20 minutes. The biggest lead in the half for the Huskies was a 44-14 lead with 1:21 left on a jumper by Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) before Lock Haven narrowed the gap to 45-20 at the break.
 
The Huskies put the game out reach early in the second half by going on a 12-0 run in the first four minutes of play to lead 57-20. Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) led the big scoring run with eight points, including two three-pointers.
 
The closest the Lady Eagles would get the rest of the way was 26 points, 76-50, with 1:20 to play in the game.
 
The Huskies, 9-5, 5-3 in the PSAC, had four players in double figures for the game led by Oxenrider with a game-high 16 points. She also added two rebounds while dishing out three assists.
 
Wieller added 14 points, while Noack finished with 13 points going 5-5 from the field, including 2-2 from behind the arc. Danielle Derr (Dresner/Upper Dublin) came off the bench to score 10 points, while also getting five rebounds.
 
Marrysa Moyer was the only player for Lock Haven, 4-8, 1-7 PSAC, in double figures with 11 points and nine rebounds. Adrianna Berry and J.J. Hilliard each added eight points.

As a team the Huskies forced 26 turnovers, which they turned into 34 points, while also hitting 18-21 from the foul line.
 
The Huskies are back in action tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. as they host Clarion University for the final crossover game of the season.
