Game Preview: Huskies Host Shippensburg on Red Card Cancer Day

STORYLINE
Two closely ranked PSAC teams compete this weekend at Sports Stadium. Bloomsburg stands seventh in the PSAC with 10 points, just ahead of Shippensburg's nine. Both teams are attempting to fight their way into next month's PSAC Playoffs. Saturday is also the annual Red Card Cancer game.

LAST TIME OUT
(Box Score) On Wednesday Bloomsburg defeated Millersville, 2-1 in overtime.  Matt Cannon (Wrightstown/Council Rock North) and Fran Miller (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) both scored for BU. Goalkeeper Bernie Roell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) stayed strong in goal with four saves. The game-tying goal was scored in the 89th minute of the game by Cannon.  Miller scored the game-winning goal at 94:13.
 
SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURG
Junior Derrick Roy currently leads Shippensburg in goals with a total of six so far this season. Raiders starting goalie Clay Sale has made 46 saves on the year, moving his career saves total up to 216. Shippensburg holds a 1-4-0 record on the road.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
Shippensburg leads the all-time series, 19-16-2.
 
LAST MEETING
(Box Score) Last season on Oct. 13, Bloomsburg defeated Shippensburg, 3-2.  Two of the Huskies goals were scored by Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) in the first half. Shippensburg then responded with back-to-back goals scored by Joe Nixon and Sam Talbot.  Bloomsburg's Chris Pawlowski (Philadelphia/LaSalle) scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute of the game.

MILLER SCORES IN OVERTIME
On Wednesday Bloomsburg defeated Millersville in overtime after Miller scored in the fifth minute of the extra period to send the Huskies to a 2-1 triumph. The goal was Miller's fifth of the season which leads the team.
 
BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Bloomsburg has now earned two back-to-back wins with wins over California (PA) last Saturday and then the win over Millersville on Wednesday. The Huskies now seek their first three-game winning streak of the season.
