BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team lost to Shippensburg 1-0 in overtime on Saturday in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) matchup.

The Huskies controlled the action in the opening 45 minutes of play getting off six shots to none for the Raiders. One BU shot hit the post, while another hit the crossbar to keep it a 0-0 game.

Early in the second half of play the Raiders would get a breakaway with Jenna Brown, but her shot on goal was denied by the Huskies goalie Danielle Fiorelli (Warrington/Villa Joseph Marie). About seven minutes later Fiorelli made another save when Brianna Brancato had a shot on goal.

The Huskies had a chance late in the game to get the go-ahead goal, but a shot by Kelsey Holtz (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Borough) was off the mark sending the teams to overtime.

In the extra period the Huskies had the first scoring opportunity when Tara Huber (Orefield/Parkland) had a shot on goal, but could not connect. Then in the 95th minute the Raiders Caitlin Sheehan fed Brown with a pass from the end line that Brown put low and to the right corner of the goal for the game winner.

Fiorelli had five saves in goal for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg is now 6-9, 4-9 in the PSAC, while Shippensburg goes to 9-4, 8-4 in the PSAC. The Huskies host Lock Haven on Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.
