Beasley’s Back-to-Back Goals Push #6 Bloomsburg Past #7 Limestone

Box Score BLOOMSBURG—The #6 Bloomsburg University field hockey team defeated #7 Limestone on Sunday, Oct. 27 in a non-conference match up at Sports Stadium.  Prior to the game the team honored the four seniors on the team; Jaclyn Beasley (Berlin, NJ/Eastern), Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill), Samantha Facciolla (Holland/Council Rock South), and Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley).
 
The Huskies scored first when Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) rocketed a shot from the top of the arc set up by a team corner with 24:01 on the clock.  This put Bloomsburg up 1-0 over the Saints. 
 
Limestone answered back 18 seconds later with a goal of their own to tie up the score at 1-1.
 
In the second half Jaclyn Beasley (Berlin, NJ/Eastern) scored back-to-back goals for the Huskies off two penalty corners.
 
The first goal was in the 39th minute when Mathews shot from the top of the arc and Beasley tipped it in to go up 2-1.  Three minutes later Beasley knocked in a loose ball rebounding off the post from Mathews shot to bring the Huskies lead to 3-1.
 
In goal Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) made five saves for the Huskies who now move to 10-6 on the season, while Limestone falls to 11-5.
 
Bloomsburg outshot the Saints 24-7 and held a 17-7 advantage in penalty corners.
 
The Huskies close out Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play as they travel to Indiana Pa. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for a 4 p.m. game and then to Erie to face Mercyhurst on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m.
