BLOOMSBURG – The first career double-double from redshirt sophomore
Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) powered the Bloomsburg women's basketball team to a 60-48 victory over visiting Goldey-Beacom on Sunday afternoon at Nelson Field House.
Sadowski scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor and hauled in a career-high 10 rebounds in a standout effort to help the Huskies take over in the second half after trailing by a point at intermission.
Goldey-Beacom (4-3) led for much of the first half and held a 29-28 advantage at the break while shooting over 43 percent from the floor. The Huskies (4-1) turned things around in the second period, though, limiting the Lightning to a mere 26 percent (8-30) from the field over the final 20 minutes. Bloomsburg would hold the Lightning to 19 points after intermission.
Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) gave Bloomsburg the lead 13 seconds into the second half and the two teams would trade the lead over the first 10 minutes of the half.
Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) put the Huskies ahead for good with a 3-pointer to take a 39-37 lead with 9:54 to play.
After Bloomsburg gave itself a bit of breathing room, the Lightning closed to within one once more at 45-44 with 6:03 remaining when the Huskies started a game-clinching run. Sadowski's jumper in the paint started a 13-4 break to end the game as Bloomsburg slowly pulled away over the finalminutes. Sadowski had eight points over the final six minutes to help clinch the win.
Noack gave the Huskies a second player in double figures, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds. Freshman
Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) also filled the stat sheet with six points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Bloomsburg held a 41-33 edge in rebounding and handed out 17 assists as a team.
Briana Richmond-Peters posted a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Lightning. Kinshay Barbour also netted 10 points for the visitors.
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday evening against PSAC East rival Cheyney at 5:30 p.m. inside Nelson Field House.
