EAST MEETS WEST
The Huskies won their first two PSAC crossover games earlier this week. Four more crossovers remain – Saturday vs. Gannon, Jan. 3-4 vs. Clarion and Pitt-Johnstown and Jan. 8 at IUP. Only one other non-conference game is left on the schedule – Jan. 11 vs. Philadelphia.

DISHING IT OUT
Bloomsburg leads the PSAC in assists thus far on the season, with an average of 19.0 per game through nine games. Gannon (18.2), Edinboro (16.4) and West Chester (16.4) are next in line.

PROTECT HOME COURT
With the victory over Cheyney on Dec. 4, the Huskies improved to 40-8 at Nelson Field House since the start of the 2010-11 season. Bloomsburg has not lost back-to-back games at home since Jan. 3-4, 2011 vs. IUP and California.

UP NEXT
The Huskies will not play again in 2013, taking the next week off to enjoy the holidays. Bloomsburg next plays Jan. 3 and 4 at Nelson Field House in another pair of PSAC crossovers, hosting Clarion on Friday afternoon and then conference newcomer Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 1 p.m. starts.

SCOUTING GANNON
Gannon entered the week ranked second in the nation after running off 11 straight victories to begin the season. The Golden Knights are no strangers to travel - they're 4-0 on the road this season and 2-0 at neutral sites with long distance victories vs. Chaminade and BYU-Hawaii at the Oahu Classic held in Oahu, Hawaii Nov. 28-29.

The defending Atlantic Regional champions registered PSAC crossover wins against Eastern Division members Mansfield (91-65) and Lock Haven (95-64) this past Tuesday and Wednesday on their home floor in Erie.

Ranked second in the PSAC in scoring at 81.5 points per game behind only West Chester, Gannon also has displayed a stingy defense, ranking second in the conference in points allowed as well at 62.5 points per game. Three players average double figure scoring - Nettie Blake (15.1 ppg), Brittany Batts (14.3 ppg) and reigning PSAC West Athlete of the Year Jen Papich (12.2 ppg).

Leading the Golden Knights is first-year head coach Jim Brunelli who is a 15-year coaching veteran both at the NCAA Division I and II levels, most recently serving as the head coach at Anderson (S.C.) University the past five years.

THE BLOOMSBURG-GANNON SERIES
Gannon leads, 4-1
The series between teams is not long, but the past year has not been short on excitement. The last meeting came in the 2013 PSAC Championship Game when the Huskies captured the conference title with a 74-57 victory on March 9 at Nelson Field House. After being tied at the halftime, Bloomsburg limited Gannon to 25 percent shooting (8-of-31) in the second half while pulling away late to earn the second PSAC title in program history. Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) and Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) each had 16 points to lead BU while Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) had 13. Brittany Batts paced Gannon with 17 points and drained five 3's and Nettie Blake had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. It was a mark of revenge for BU after Gannon scored a 72-68 win on Jan. 4 at the Hammermill Center in Erie – racing out to a 44-28 halftime lead before the Huskies roared back with a 31-14 run to take the lead with 6:49 to play led by 20 points from Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty). Nettie Blake gave Gannon the lead it wouldn't relinquish by sinking a free throw with 1:14 to play, ending the game on a 7-0 run.
