SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Career-high scoring from Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) and Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) was not enough for the Bloomsburg women's basketball team Saturday at Shippensburg's Heiges Field House as the host Raiders held off the Huskies for a 92-83 victory.

Noack finished with 26 points, bettering her previous best of 25 set last month in a win at Wilmington (DE). Ford added 16 points, also a career high in scoring for the junior guard.

Shippensburg had too much in the way of offensive fireworks, however, paced by a game-high 33 points from senior guard Sarah Strybuc. The Huskies fall to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in PSAC East play and Shippensburg improves to 6-1, 3-0.

The Raiders seized control from the outset, running up a 12-2 lead in the first three and a half minutes. The lead held near double digits for the first 10 minutes before the Huskies mounted a rally, embarking on a 9-0 run to cut the Shippensburg lead to one at 24-23 with eight minutes left in the opening stanza.

An 11-2 sprint by the Raiders in the next three and a half minutes pushed the lead to 35-25 and the hosts ultimately took a 45-31 lead to intermission thanks to shooting nearly 54 percent from the floor (15-of-28) including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc in the first half, with all of the made 3-pointers coming from Strybuc who posted 17 points before the break.

Bloomsburg immediately fought its way back into the game after halftime, unleashing a 13-2 run over the first 3:35 of the second half to cut the Shippensburg lead down to three. The Huskies battled all the way back to tie the game at 52 following a jumper from Noack with 13:23 to play, but the Raiders had an answer. After the teams exchanged baskets over the next few minutes, a 10-2 break from Shippensburg ultimately pushed the Raiders lead to double digits again at 68-58 following another long-range shot from Strybuc with 6:55 left.

The Huskies cut to within seven at 83-76 with a minute left, but the Raiders were able to make clutch free throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach.

Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) posted 16 points and brought in a team-high seven rebounds for the Huskies while Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) registered nine points and six boards.

Four players reached double digit scoring for the Raiders – Strybuc, who connected on 11 of 14 shot attempts, Stephanie Knauer (16 points), Lauren Gold (15) and Morgan Griffith (14).

A key to the game was Shippensburg's ability to get to the line – the Raiders made 27 of 33 attempts from the stripe while Bloomsburg was just five-of-seven.

Bloomsburg will take the next week off for finals before traveling west to play at Edinboro on Dec. 17 in a PSAC crossover contest.
