Huskies Beat West Chester in Women's Basketball

WEST CHESTER—Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 64-54 win over West Chester on Saturday afternoon in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Eastern Division game.
 
The Golden Rams jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first two minutes of play before the Huskies rallied and went on a 15-2 run to go on top 15-7. Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) scored five points to help Bloomsburg take the lead.
 
The Huskies stretched their lead to 26-12 with 9:01 to go in the half by going on an 11-0 run with Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) scoring seven points, including a three-pointer for the Huskies. Bloomsburg maintained the comfortable lead throughout the rest of the half, building it to 21 points before going to the locker room with a 37-17 advantage.
 
West Chester closed the gap to 37-26 by holding the Huskies scoreless for the first five minutes of the second half while going on a 9-0 run of its own. Wieller snapped the Huskies scoring drought by hitting a pair of free throws. Later with the Huskies on top by 15 points, the Golden Rams used another 9-0 run to make it a six-point game at 44-38 with 10:20 to play.
 
Bloomsburg though responded getting a pair of free throws from Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) while Wieller added two free throws, a layup and three-pointer to key a 9-2 run giving the Huskies a 53-40 lead with 7:42 to play.
 
West Chester narrowed the gap to seven points on two occasions, the last coming with 1:22 to play, but the Huskies went four for six in the final minute from the foul line to seal the victory.
 
Along with Wieller's 19 points, Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) came off the bench to score 10 points with Ford scoring nine points for Bloomsburg, now 18-5, 14-5 in the PSAC.

West Chester, now 13-10, 10-9 in the PSAC, got a game-high 21 points from Brittany Sicinski, while Alex Lennon scored 12 points.
 
The Huskies are back in action on Wednesday hosting Mansfield starting at 5:30 p.m.
