Softball Team Drops Pair of Games to Molloy

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HTML Box Score Game One | HTML Box Score Game Two

ROCKVILLE CENTER, NY—The Bloomsburg University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to Molloy College on Saturday falling 7-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two.

In game one Kelley Jansen blanked the Huskies by throwing a no-hitter and striking out 15. The Huskies did manage to four runners on via the walk and one who was hit by a pitch, but could not come up with a hit. In the fourth inning the Huskies had two one with one out, but Jansen got a strikeout and a ground out to end the threat.

Molloy got all the runs it would need in the second inning when it scored four times off starter Cait Paine (Lebanon/Lebanon). The big hit in the inning was a two-run homer from Victoria Gunnels.

In game two the Huskies managed seven hits but could not score. Bloomsburg wasted little time getting its first hit when Kayla McHale (Dillsburg/Northern) doubled with one out in the first. In the second and third innings the Huskies had runners at second and third with one out, but each time Molloy pitcher Megan Butterworth worked out of the jam.

Molly got on the board in the second inning with two runs and plated two more in the sixth for some insurance.

Bloomsburg falls to 24-12 with the losses, while Molloy goes to 38-8 with the two wins. The Huskies play at Lock Haven on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
