STORYLINE
A pair of 2-2 teams meet in Slippery Rock on Wednesday with each aiming to move above the .500 mark. The Huskies enter Wednesday's contest as winners of two straight games after winning both matches on its road trip to Louisville, Kentucky, last weekend. Slippery Rock dropped its last game, losing 2-1 to Kutztown last Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg dominated its weekend trip to the Bluegrass State, beating host Bellarmine 4-0 before dropping Lindenwood by a 5-0 score on Sunday.
Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) scored off an assist from
Stephanie Halsted (Fairfax Station, VA/South County) in the seventh minute and the Huskies never looked back vs. Lindenwood.
Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley),
Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove),
Sam Peters (Yeagerstown/Mifflin County) and
Nikki Gattone (Reading/Muhlenberg) all scored in the win while
Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) and
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) combined in net for the shutout.
SCOUTING SLIPPERY ROCK
The Rock has had the luxury of playing all of its games at home early in the season, splitting the first four contests of the year. Slippery Rock was selected to finish seventh in the PSAC Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing ninth in the final National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II poll in 2012. It marked the first time since 1998 Slippery Rock had won eight games in a season. Junior forward Lindsay Brown leads The Rock with four goals while Carlee DuMars (2.00 GAA) and Courtney Lee (1.47) have split time in goal.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg leads, 30-0-0.
LAST MEETING
Bloomsburg came away with a 1-0 overtime victory at Sports Stadium on Sept. 14, 2012.
Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) scored the game-winner at 75:46.
Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) was perfect in net, making four saves to preserve the shutout. Courtney Lee made six saves for The Rock.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Wednesday brings another road contest for BU – the Huskies are 1-1 away from home so far this season and 1-0 in neutral site contests. A year ago, Bloomsburg posted a 7-2 road record.
