KUTZTOWN—Sam Peters (Yeagerstown/Mifflin County) scored three times to lead the eighth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 5-0 win over ninth-ranked Kutztown University Tuesday night.

After neither team got a shot off in the first 19 minutes Peters got the Huskies offense going hitting the back of the cage in the 27th minute to make it 1-0.

Bloomsburg made it 2-0 just 1:24 later taking advantage of penalty corner. On the play Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) fed Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) who directed a pass to Samantha Facciolla (Holland/Council Rock South) who scored from the right side of the circle. For Facciolla, who did not have a point in her first three years with the Huskies, it was her second straight game with a goal.

In the second half it was all Peters as she scored three goals in just under 11 minutes of play. Her second goal of the game came in the 55th minute when she scored unassisted. Her third goal came on an assist from Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) in the 61st minute for a 4-0 lead. The game's final goal came unassisted from Domenici, her team-high ninth goal.

In goal Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) posted the shutout win stopping two shots in the victory.

As a team the Huskies outshot the Golden Bears, 16-2, and held an 8-2 edge in penalty corners.

Bloomsburg goes to 4-3 with the win, while Kutztown falls to 3-3. The Huskies visit Shippensburg on Saturday at 2 p.m.
