BLOOMSBURG – Freshman Jenna Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) put in a day to remember by tallying three goals to power the Bloomsburg women's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout victory over visiting Davis & Elkins on Thursday evening at Sports Stadium.

The victory moves Bloomsburg to 4-5 overall on the season while Davis & Elkins drops to 1-6.

The two teams played to a scoreless draw during the first half, despite the Huskies attacking for the majority of the opening stanza. The Husky defense was stifling during the first period, not allowing D&E to get away a shot attempt over the first 31:19 of game time, and did not allow a shot on goal during the half as the Senators' first shot was blocked and their second sailed wide. Bloomsburg found the offensive momentum it needed thanks to a tremendous second half performance from its freshman forward.

Fisher registered the first goal in the 50th minute on a play set up by senior Tara Huber (Orefield/Parkland). Huber's cross to the far left wing found Fisher who then beat the D&E keeper with a high floater.

Late in the second half, Fisher would strike again twice more. She was able to beat the diving Senators keeper to find the back of the net in the 77th minute off an assist from Jamie Vaniver (Holland/Council Rock South). The scoring blitz was capped off in the 86th minute when Ashley Sanchez (Lyndhurst/DePaul Catholic) sent an attack through the box which Fisher finished with a shot off of the keeper's hands and into the net to finish the hat trick.

The Huskies held a 14-6 edge in shots while Danielle Fiorelli (Warrington/Villa Joseph Marie) notched her first shutout of the season to earn the victory in net with three saves.

Nine games into her career, Fisher already has a pair of multi-goal games after notching two scores in a win over Pitt-Johnstown earlier this month. She has also scored in four of the past five matches.

Bloomsburg returns to PSAC play when it travels to Kutztown on Wednesday, Oct. 2 for a 3 p.m. start.
