Women's Basketball Posts Commanding Victory at Kutztown, 74-56

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team kept its winning ways alive on Saturday afternoon, scoring its eighth straight victory with a 74-56 triumph at Kutztown's Keystone Arena.
 
Bloomsburg improves to 15-3 overall and 6-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East play while Kutztown slips to 6-12, 3-5.
 
Kutztown held an early lead, taking an 8-6 edge into the game's first media timeout. The hosts' lead would be short-lived, however, as a layup from Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) tied the game following the media timeout. With the game all square at 11-11, the Huskies embarked on a 15-2 run to extend its lead to 26-13 following a jumper by Erica Maciejewski (Red Lion/Red Lion) at the 6:10 mark of the first half.
 
Bloomsburg led by as many as 15 points during the first period before Kutztown closed to within 32-25 before a Maciejewski free throw and layup from Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) in the final seconds stretched the Huskies lead to 35-25 at intermission.
 
The Golden Bears closed the gap to eight on free throws by Natalya Lee in the opening moments of the second half, but Bloomsburg then went on an 11-2 sprint to make its lead 48-29. From there, Bloomsburg never relinquished control, stretching its lead to 20 (51-31) with 13:19 to play following a 3-pointer from Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty). Kutztown never got closer than 18 points the rest of the way.
 
Sadowski paced the Huskies with 15 points in only 20 minutes of action. Dudeck tallied a season-best 13 points and Noack chipped in 12 points while tying a career-high with six assists.
 
Advia Campbell led Kutztown with 14 points and Jess Harvey added 11.
 
The Huskies shot 43.9 percent from the floor (25-for-57) while holding Kutztown to only 37.5 percent shooting (21-56). Bloomsburg forced Kutztown into 28 turnovers which resulted in 21 points for the Huskies.
 
Bloomsburg remains on the road this Wednesday for a trip to Millersville to take on the Marauders at 6:00 p.m.
 
GAME NOTES: Bloomsburg has now won nine straight over Kutztown and leads the all-time series 63-23 … Saturday completed the first round of PSAC East games … Bloomsburg's eight-game winning streak is the longest since winning nine in a row between Feb. 9 – March 9 last season … the Huskies improved to 8-1 on the road this year and are now 11-0 when leading at halftime.
