Bloomsburg (15-3, 6-2 PSAC East) at Millersville (11-7, 6-2 PSAC East)
Wednesday, Jan. 29 - 6:00 p.m.
Millersville, PA (Pucillo Gymnasium)
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - When the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team makes the trip to Millersville on Wednesday evening, it will seek to both stretch an eight-game winning streak and also even the season series with its PSAC East rival. The Huskies dropped the first game vs. Millersville, 80-74, at home in November.
The Huskies have won 10 of their past 11 games while posting a margin of victory of +16.25 over their eight-game winning streak. Bloomsburg won, 74-56, at Kutztown on Saturday while Millersville defeated Shippensburg, 72-61, in its last time out.
SCOUTING MILLERSVILLE
Millersville enters Wednesday's game as winners of back-to-back games, dropping Shippensburg (72-61) and Lock Haven (74-47) in the past week after suffering a surprise last-second loss at the hands of Cheyney, 61-60, on Jan. 18. Millersville ranks eighth in the PSAC in scoring on the year (70.7 ppg) and ninth in scoring defense (68.7 ppg). Where the Marauders shine is on the glass – Millersville ranks fourth in the PSAC in rebounding margin at +3.1 and hauls in 14.3 offensive rebounds per game. In comparison, Bloomsburg is averaging 10.6 offensive boards per game. Turnovers and foul shooting woes have been issues – Millersville owns a negative turnover margin (-0.56, 12th in the PSAC) and ranks 14th in the conference in foul shooting at 65.4 percent. The Huskies, meanwhile, are second in the conference in foul shooting (76.3 percent) and are +4.67 in turnover margin.
Sophomore Celeste Robinson has been named conference athlete of the week two out of the past three weeks and averages 13.9 points per game. Redshirt junior Carly Gallagher leads the team in scoring at 14.1 ppg.
THE BLOOMSBURG-MILLERSVILLE SERIES
Millersville leads 40-36
The Marauders have taken the past three games in the series – all by single digits – however, the Huskies have won four of the past seven games. Last year, Millersville won 62-55 at Pucillo Gymnasium when four players scored in double-figures and the Marauders limited Bloomsburg to 31.7 percent shooting from the field. In the second matchup, Millersville erased a 37-20 halftime deficit at Nelson Field House after putting together a 20-0 run during the second half en route to a 64-62 victory. This past November, Millersville scored an 80-74 win at Nelson Field House thanks to a late run. Tied at 67 with 2:35 to play, Millersville went on an 11-4 run to take control of the game late.
