Women's Basketball Closes Non-Conference Schedule By Hosting Philadelphia Saturday

BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg women's basketball team will look to keep its momentum going this Saturday afternoon vs. Philadelphia after defeating No. 20 IUP, 74-62, on the road in its last time out. The Huskies improved to 10-3 overall on the season and will wrap up non-conference play against an equally hot Philadelphia (8-3) squad, winners of five straight after defeating Wilmington (Del.) 94-63 on Wednesday night. Longtime Rams head coach Tom Shirley—who earned his 500th win at Philadelphia University on Wednesday—will go for his 650th career victory.

SCOUTING PHILADELPHIA
The Rams enter Saturday's game as winners of five straight games, having not tasted defeat since a loss at PSAC member East Stroudsburg, 66-63, on Dec. 1. Earlier in the year, Philadelphia scored a 90-87 victory at West Chester on Nov. 9 and is 1-2 overall vs. PSAC teams after losing to Kutztown, 75-71, on Nov. 16. The Rams are led by head coach Tom Shirley, who scored his 500th career win at Philadelphia on Wednesday. His 649 career victories are third all-time in NCAA Division II.

Philadelphia U has been strong offensively, averaging 74.3 points per game and shoots nearly 38 percent from 3-point range. The Rams have struggled on the boards where they own a -3.5 rebounding margin and have not made the most of their free throw opportunities, shooting 64.7 percent at the line. Sophomore center Tori Arnao is a bright spot on the glass, however, ranking fifth in the CACC in rebounding at 9.9 per game and also shoots 48.8 percent from the floor. Junior guard Najah Jacobs is a 3-point threat, shooting a CACC-best 58.8 percent (10-17) from beyond the arc while senior Megan Finn hands out 3.8 assists per game.

THE BLOOMSBURG-PHILADELPHIA SERIES
Philadelphia leads, 9-7

Philadelphia U leads the all-time series, 9-7 with its last win coming during the 2010-11 season, a 73-68 triumph in Philadelphia. The Huskies rolled to an 86-65 victory in Philly in the last meeting on Dec. 30, 2012, shooting 52.2 percent from the floor (36-of-69) led by 25 points from Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor). The last three meetings have come in Philadelphia with an additional meeting at a neutral court in Johnstown in 2006.
