BOX SCORE (HTML)BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University field hockey blanked visiting Bellarmine University of Kentucky on Saturday by a score of 2-0 at Steph Pettit Stadium.

The Huskies wasted little time getting on the board scoring in the fourth minute of play. After receiving a pass out above the circle,
Nikki Gattone (Reading/Muhlenberg) dribbled in and unleashed a rocket past the Knights goalie Lara Williams for a 1-0 lead.

Bloomsburg continued to dominate the action controlling field position throughout the remainder of the half holding a 9-3 edge in shots and 7-1 in penalty corners. But Williams came up with eight first half saves to keep things close for Bellarmine.

In the second half of play the Huskies again scored early getting a goal by
Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) in the sixth minute after she collected a rebound off the goalie pads on a shot by Gattone.
From there the Huskies defense took over and denied the Knights on 10 penalty corner opportunities with Huskies goalie
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) making five saves in the half.

With the win the Huskies improve to 4-7 on the year, while Bellarmine falls to 6-5. The Huskies visit Slippery Rock on Wednesday at 4 p.m.Â
