Women's Soccer Works Double Overtime Draw, 1-1, With Millersville on Senior Night

Box Score (HTML)

BLOOMSBURG - The five members of the Bloomsburg University women's soccer senior class got a few extra minutes of time on the Steph Pettit Stadium turf Wednesday night in the home regular season finale as the Huskies battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie with visiting Millersville on a cold and rainy evening.

The two squads were even in shots during the first period at four apiece and the score was tied as well as neither side could break through.

Millersville (6-6-1, 6-6-1 PSAC) got on the board in the 50th minute when Victoria Kramer crossed in front and the ball deflected off the keeper, allowing Halie Parker to tap in the first goal, her fifth tally of the year.

The Marauders held the 1-0 edge until the 63rd minute when the Huskies registered the equalizer. It was Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland) who found the net for Bloomsburg with a rocket from the top of the 18-yard box that arched over the Millersville keeper and went top shelf for the tie.

The score remained tied, sending things to extra time. Bloomsburg fired the only two shots of the first overtime as Ashley Sanchez (Lyndhurst/DePaul Catholic) fired wide and Allie Camp (Beavertown/Midd-West) delivered a shot on goal that was denied by Millersville keeper Olivia Webber.

Millersville had two off target shots in the second overtime with the Huskies mounting the only shot on goal - an attempt by Michelle Kinka (West Chester/Villa Maria Academy) that was again turned away by Webber to seal the tie.

For the match, Millersville held a 12-10 edge in shots.

Megan Deak (West Islip, NY/West Islip) was again strong in net for the Huskies, making seven saves. Webber turned in seven saves as well for Millersville.

Bloomsburg now stands at 6-7-2 overall and 5-7-2 in PSAC play. Prior to the match, the Huskies honored their five seniors - Brooke Mohney (Bigler/Clearfield), Julia Rios (Millersville/Penn Manor), Sierra Fortunato (Kennett Square/Unionville), Hailey Vonasek (Sparks, MD/Notre Dame Prep) and Brooke Etter (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown Area) as well as manager Becca Snee.

Next up is a date on Saturday afternoon at Shippensburg.
