ELKINS, W. Va. – Freshman goalkeeper
Megan Deak (West Islip, NY/West Islip) made six saves to record her sixth shutout of the season and sophomores
Jenna Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) and
Allie Camp (Beavertown/Midd-West) each found the back of the net as the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team scored a 2-0 victory at non-conference Davis & Elkins on Wednesday afternoon.
The victory moves the Huskies to 7-8-2 overall on the season while Davis & Elkins is now 9-4-4.
The teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half with Bloomsburg holding a 9-7 edge in shots. The Huskies seized control following intermission, dominating in shots by a 12-5 margin after intermission.
More importantly, Bloomsburg made good on its scoring chances.
Fisher got the Huskies on the board in the 73rd minute by taking a cross from
Ashley Sanchez (Lyndhurst/DePaul Catholic) and firing a shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Camp gave Bloomsburg some insurance in the waning moments, scoring off a rebound in the 89th minute to put the contest away.
Deak was stellar in net, lowering her season goals against average to 1.08 by blanking Davis & Elkins.
Bloomsburg also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks for the day.
The Huskies continually put pressure on Senators keeper Ashley Winkelspecht who had to make 12 saves for the home team.
Next up for Bloomsburg is the season finale at Lock Haven on Saturday.
