Box Score) Bloomsburg fought to a 1-1 double overtime draw with non-conference Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday afternoon.
Anthony Cerda (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive) scored his fourth goal of the season just 2:36 into the match, but the Cardinals responded with a strong second half and tied the match on a penalty kick in the 68th minute. Wheeling Jesuit had four shots in the first overtime while the Huskies had the only shot of the second overtime.
Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall/Whitehall) made his first career start and had seven saves in net.

SCOUTING GANNONGannon started the season slow, dropping three out of its first four matches out of conference to begin the season – a 6-0 loss to Charleston (WV), a 3-1 setback to Notre Dame (OH) and 3-1 loss to Daemen. The Golden Knights have turned things around in PSAC play, though, scoring wins over East Stroudsburg (4-1) Millersville (3-2, OT) and Shippensburg (3-2) in recent days with their only conference defeat coming at the hands of West Chester (1-0).
Gannon is fourth in the PSAC in goals per game (1.67) and ninth in goals allowed (22). Robbie Bennett leads the PSAC in shots per game (4.56) while goalkeeper Matthew Dixon is ninth in goals against average (2.39). Bennett also leads the Golden Knights with 14 points on the year (six goals, two assists) while Chad Petterson adds three goals and one assist for seven points.

TIGHT AT THE TOPThe week begins with six teams tied atop the PSAC men's soccer standings as Bloomsburg, Gannon, Mercyhurst, Slippery Rock, Lock Haven and West Chester all have 3-1 records and nine conference points thus far against PSAC competition. The next two weeks will be crucial for the Huskies as they play Gannon at home on Wednesday and then travel to Mercyhurst for a Saturday match. After playing non-conference Queens on Oct. 14, next up is a date at Slippery Rock on Oct. 17.

DEFENSE HOLDS STRONGBloomsburg has been strong on both ends of the field this season, but especially so defensively. The Huskies have surrendered just eight goals so far this year, the lowest total in the PSAC. West Chester is next lowest with 11 goals allowed. Offensively the Huskies have been nearly as impressive – the 24 goals scored by Bloomsburg are second only to Mercyhurst (29).

CERDA LEADS THE WAYFreshman
Anthony Cerda (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive) has made an impressive debut in maroon and gold this fall and continues to add to his statistical totals with a goal this past Saturday vs. Wheeling Jesuit. Cerda now leads the Huskies with four goals for a total of eight points on the year while also placing 13 shots on goal.
