SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
New Haven presents a stiff opening game test as the Chargers were an NCAA Tournament team a year ago. The Chargers reached the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2007 under the first-year leadership of head coach Ty Grace, finishing the year at 18-10. New Haven has high expectations entering the new season as the Chargers were selected to win the Northeast-10 Southwest Division with 10 of 15 first-place votes. Defending national champion Bentley is the favorite in the NE-10. New Haven also garnered national recognition by receiving votes in the USA Today/WBCA Division II Top 25.

Honorable mention All-America selection and reigning NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year Aquillin Hayes leads the list of seven returners for New Haven off last year's NCAA team while seven newcomers join the roster. Last year's team was bounced from the first round of the East Region of the NCAA Tournament bracket with a 92-86 overtime loss to Adelphi. Hayes led the team in scoring (15.3 ppg). The top three scorers from last year return as also back are junior guard Brianna Bradford (13.9 ppg) and senior combo guard Bria Moore (11.4 ppg).

THE BLOOMSBURG-NEW HAVEN SERIES
Bloomsburg leads 2-0

The Huskies have won the only two meetings between the schools, but Friday's game will be the first game between BU and New Haven since the Huskies won, 75-45, at Nelson Field House on Nov. 27, 2001. On that night the Huskies led 40-14 at halftime and played four players in double-figures led by Megan LaBuda's six-of-eight shooting from the floor for 12 points along with 11 rebounds.

The only other meeting was a 79-69 Huskies win at New Haven on Nov. 28, 2000. LaBuda tallied 26 points to lead the Huskies as they pulled away down the stretch after leading by just a point at halftime.

DOWNTOWN WITH THE HUSKIES
-The Huskies have made at least one 3-pointer in 189 consecutive games. The last time Bloomsburg did not make a three in a game was Jan. 12, 2008 in a loss at Slippery Rock when the Huskies went 0-16 beyond the arc.

-Bloomsburg made 198 3-point field goals last season - within the PSAC, only Edinboro (200) and IUP (195) made more. The Huskies sank on average 6.4 3-pointers per game last year, however, they will need to replace the nation's top 3-point shooter from a year ago - Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) graduated last spring after setting a PSAC record with 49.5% shooting from long range.
