Women's Basketball Looks To Seal Top Spot in East on Saturday at Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. - The nationally-ranked Bloomsburg University women's basketball team can win the PSAC East regular season crown with a victory on Saturday at Mansfield. Though winless on the season, the Mountaineers have much to play for this weekend, celebrating Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

SCOUTING MANSFIELD
Mansfield will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, honoring its lone senior – 1,000-point scorer Jena Matter. Matter has been the best player on the Mountaineers this season, averaging 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and has averaged 10.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg over her four seasons with Mansfield. Saturday also marks Mansfield's final opportunity to get a win in 2014, entering Saturday at 0-25. The last PSAC team to go winless was the 2011-12 Cheyney squad that finished 0-26.

The Mountaineers rank 17th in the PSAC in scoring at 60.3 ppg and also 17th in scoring defense, allowing 77.6 points to opponents. Mansfield is 16th in the league in rebounding margin, but third in offensive rebounds, averaging 15.5 offensive boards per game.

THE BLOOMSBURG-MANSFIELD SERIES
Bloomsburg leads 55-10

The Huskies own 10 straight victories over Mansfield, sweeping the season series the past four years. Mansfield's last win in the series came on its home floor, 52-46, on Feb. 4, 2009. In the last meeting at Decker Gymnasium, the Huskies won, 93-73, last January and then also won, 63-51, at home on Feb. 23 2013. In the first game this year between schools, Bloomsburg won 84-53 on Jan. 22 at Nelson Field House led by 18 points from Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing), 11 from Erica Maciejewski (Red Lion/Red Lion) and 10 points each from Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) and Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights). Jena Matter posted 14 points for Mansfield and Katie Fitzpatrick added 10.

-Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) is closing in on the exclusive 50/40/90 club – shooting 50.4% percent from the floor this season as well as 48.0% from 3-pointers and 89.4% at the foul line.

-Noack finished 7-of-8 from the floor for 20 points Wednesday vs. West Chester. She's 15-21 from the floor and 13-19 from 3-pointers with 47 points in two games vs. WCU this year.

-The two seniors on this year's roster, Noack and Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf/Hazleton), have been a part of Huskies teams which have posted a 93-21 record over the past four years.

-Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) is shooting 73.9 percent (17-for-23) during the final five minutes of games this year.

-Bloomsburg has won the turnover battle 16 times this year and tied in four others this season.

-The Huskies have forced opponents into 20+ turnovers 15 times this season.

-The starting lineup of Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic), Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty), Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing), Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) and Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) is 16-1 this year.

-That lineup's only loss was a 65-63 heartbreaker vs. nationally-ranked Gannon.

-Bloomsburg ranks fourth in the current NCAA Division II Atlantic Region standings, but stands to move up following a loss by #1 Glenville State, 77-74, at Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday.
