CHEYNEY, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team takes its 10-game winning streak into Cheyney on Thursday night. The Huskies will look for a season sweep again an improving Lady Wolves squad which has already defeated Millersville earlier this month.
SCOUTING CHEYNEY
Cheyney enters Wednesday's game at 3-16 and looking to snap a two-game losing skid after dropping back-to-back games to West Chester (95-66) and Shippensburg (101-65). The Lady Wolves proved they can pull an upset, however, shocking Millersville, 61-60 at home on Jan. 18, and also registered an 81-70 victory over Lock Haven on Jan. 25, also on their home floor. Cheyney is 0-10 on the road, but 3-6 at Cope Hall this year.
Cheyney ranks 18th in the PSAC in scoring offense at 57.3 ppg and 15th in scoring defense at 76.3 ppg. The Lady Wolves have especially struggled on the glass this season, holding a -5.1 rebounding margin, last in the PSAC, and also ranks 17th in turnover margin at -5.79. Three Cheyney players average in double-figure scoring – Lachelle Miller (11.6 ppg), Amber Genwright (10.9 ppg) and Kyra Hines-Allen (10.9 ppg)
The Wolves are led by first-year head coach Kyle Adams, who was an assistant at Cheyney for the past two years. Adams is a Cheyney University alumnus, graduating from the school in 1999.
