BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team will look to avenge an early season loss at Shippensburg when the Huskies host the Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field House. Since the Huskies lost at Shippensburg, 92-83, on Dec. 7, Bloomsburg has won 13 of 14 games - with its only defeat being a two-point loss to then-No. 2 Gannon on Dec. 21.
The Huskies enter Saturday second in the PSAC East standings behind only West Chester (10-1) while Shippensburg stands third at 7-3 in divisional play.
BU TO CELEBRATE GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY
Bloomsburg University will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Nelson Field House. The BU Women's Basketball Team will host a free clinic at 10 a.m. that morning which includes free tickets for participants to the game that afternoon vs. Shippensburg. Open to elementary through high school girls, the clinic includes drills on passing, dribbling, shooting, agilities, defense and rebounding. To register, contact

SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURG
Shippensburg has been off since last Saturday when it rolled past Cheyney, 101-65, at home for its second consecutive win. The Raiders also won at Lock Haven, 69-61, on Jan. 29 to bounce back from a 72-61 loss at Millersville on Jan. 25.
The Raiders rank second in the PSAC in scoring at 80.0 ppg, led by Sarah Strybuc who is third in the conference in scoring at 18.2 points per game. Strybuc is just ahead of teammate Stephanie Knauer who ranks fourth at 17.0 ppg to give Shippensburg perhaps the strongest one-two punch in the PSAC East. Shippensburg is 13th in the PSAC in points allowed (73.8 ppg).
Shippensburg has a knack for getting to the foul line - the Raiders have attempted 629 foul shots, 127 more than any other PSAC team entering the week. Of those attempts, the Raiders have made 482, again well ahead of any other PSAC team, connecting on 76.6 percent at the line - second only to Bloomsburg's 78.1 percent.
In the first meeting of year, Shippensburg reached season highs for any BU opponent in points (92), field goal percentage (53.7%) plus free throws made (27) and attempted (33).

Shippensburg leads 30-22
The Raiders won the very first meeting, 58-54, in 1976 and Shippensburg once dominated the series, winning 12 out of the first 14 games between the schools. Things have changed in recent years, as Bloomsburg entered this season with six straight victories over their PSAC East rival. Shippensburg snapped that streak with their first win in the series since Jan. 19, 2011 with a 92-83 victory at home on Dec. 7 in the first meeting of the year. It marked just the third time in the
Bill Cleary Era that the Huskies have allowed 90 or more points. The hot-shooting Raiders were led by Sarah Strybuc's 33 points including 11-of-14 shooting from the floor. Stephanie Knauer added 16.
