Women's Tennis Defeats Scranton, 5-4

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team worked past the University of Scranton, 5-4, on Wednesday morning to move to 2-3 on the season in dual match play.

At first singles, Maddie Graziani (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) moved to 8-2 on the season with her seventh straight victory, blanking Stephanie Boccuzzi 6-0, 6-0. Aida Diop (Allentown/Emmaus) then registered a 6-2, 6-4 win over Scranton's Devon Cohen and Caitlin Flynn (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) kept the Huskies winning ways alive with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Megan Azzalina at third singles.

Scranton evened singles action with wins at fourth, fifth and sixth singles, but the Huskies earned the difference makers in doubles.

The team of Graziani and Flynn posted an 8-2 win over Boccuzzi and Cohen at first doubles and then Diop and Natalie Greenholt (Hanover/South Western) partnered for a 9-8 win with a 7-4 tiebreaker over Emily Walsh and Nicole Mahaffey.

While Bloomsburg improves to 2-3, Scranton falls to 1-5.

Bloomsburg finishes its spring break trip on Thursday by taking on Saint Leo.
