Women’s Tennis Team Hosts BU Duals This Weekend

STORYLINE
The Huskies will host the three-day BU Duals from Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13.

LAST TIME OUT FOR BLOOMSBURG (8-4)
The Huskies captured the PSAC Eastern Division title with a 9-0 win over Kutztown University on Tuesday afternoon. In singles play Aida Diop (Allentown/Emmaus) (Allentown/Emmaus) won in straight sets at number two, 6-4, 6-0 for the team's fourth point, while Lindsey Tennis (Quakertown/Quakertown) picked up the deciding point with a win at number five, 6-0, 6-3. Caitlin Flynn (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) also won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. The Huskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles with the number one team of Maddie Graziani (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) and Flynn winning 8-5, while the team of Natalie Greenholt (Hanover/South Western) and Diop at number two picked up an 8-3 win. The Huskies got their third win in doubles from Nicole Slagle (Irwin/Penn Trafford) and Erin Reitenauer (Whitehall/Whitehall), 8-3.

SCOUTING BLUEFIELD STATE (1-9)
The Lady Blues got their first win of the season beating Winston-Salem, 8-1, and losing to Shaw University 4-5, Sunday. Lady Blues swept WSSU in the doubles with wins by: Wendy Rudhu/Tafadzwa Mawisire, Maria Laura Hernandez-Larez/Estel Fernandez Balada, and Maria Hernandez/Isabella Cubillos. The other wins came from: Maria Laura Hernandez-Laurez, Estel Fernandez Balada, Tafadzwa Mawisire, Wendy Rudhu, and Maria Hernandez. Against Shaw University, the women won No. 1 doubles with Isabella Cubillos and Maria Hernandez. The other wins came from Tafadzwa Mawisire, Maria Hernandez, and Marta Briales.
 
SCOUTING SLIPPERY ROCK (11-10)
The Rock's team had a 9-0 win Tuesday afternoon over visiting Seton Hill. Sarah Joumond and Kylee Woodman rang up 6-1, 6-1 wins in the No. 2 and No. 4 matches, while sophomore Courtney Gallagher recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 5 singles match. In singles action, Nikolina Grbac and Lauren Coggins waltzed to, 6-0, 6-0, wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches, respectively.
 
SCOUTING CHARLESTON
The Golden Eagles had a 9-0 win over visiting Winston-Salem State Friday. Charleston caught a break to start the match as the Rams showed with just four players giving the team an early 3-0 match advantage. In singles, Ana Maria Pena (6-0, 6-1), Kelsey Hensley (6-1, 6-0), Marieve Edwards (6-1, 6-0), Millika Malli (6-0, 6-0), Taylor Youell (default), and Molly Ballard (default) all won their matches. In doubles, Ballard and Youell won by default, Taylor Todd and Edwards won 8-2 and Pena and Hensley won 8-4.

NEXT TIME OUT
With the win against Kutztown, the Huskies clinch a first round bye in the upcoming PSAC playoffs.
