MANSFIELD—Kayla McHale (Dillsburg/Northern) went a combined 5-8, while Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run) and Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) each pitched complete games to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a sweep of its doubleheader with Mansfield on Saturday. The Huskies won by scores of 13-2 and 6-2.

GAME ONE
The Huskies trailed 2-0 going to the top of the fifth inning in the opener. In the top of the fifth Rachel Fredell (Dingmans Ferry/Delaware Valley) singled to lead off the inning with Chrissy Belko (Old Forge/Old Forge) following with a two-run homer to tie the game. Holly Peacock (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) then walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Erika Yanora (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) then walked with both runners moving up a base on a passed ball. McHale then grounded out with Peacock scoring and Yanora taking third. Mandi Baer (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) then reached on an error with Yanora holding at third. Sarah Bertoni (Nanticoke/Greater Nanticoke Area) then reached on error with Yanora coming in to make it 4-2. Parker then helped herself by hitting a triple, which plated two runs, and giving Bloomsburg a 6-2 lead. Moir then completed the big inning with an RBI single.

Bloomsburg added to its lead by scoring six runs in the top of the seventh inning. Parker drove in one run with a double, while Fredell plated two with a double. Bertoni added an RBI triple, while McHale also drove in a run with an RBI single to make it a 13-2 lead.

Parker went the distance to earn her 10th win of the season. The freshman gave up five hits, walked one and struck out five to get the victory. Parker also went 2-3 with three RBI, while McHale was 3-5 with two RBI.

GAME TWO
In the nightcap the Huskies banged out 10 hits in support of Tomaschik with McHale going 2-2 and Yanora adding a 3-4 game.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead.  After Yanora was out to begin the game, McHale reached on a bunt single. After moving to second on a sacrifice by Baer, Bertoni singled scoring McHale and making it 1-0. Parker then went the opposite way and hit a two-run homer for a 3-0 lead.

The Huskies made it 4-0 with a run in the top of the third. Yanora led off with a single and took second on an error by the centerfielder. McHale singled to left with Yanora moving to third. Baer then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Yanora with the fourth run.

Mansfield closed the gap with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make a 4-2 game. But the Huskies added some insurance by scoring twice in the top of the seventh. Anna McElroy (Jessup/Valley View) doubled to lead off the inning. Yanora then tripled scoring Erica Keen (Gordonville/Bishop Shanahan) who had come in to pinch run. McHale then followed with sacrifice fly giving the Huskies a 6-2 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh Mansfield did put two runners on with two outs, but Tomaschik got the final two outs to preserve the win.

Tomaschik ended the day allowing six hits, while striking out four and not walking anyone.

Bloomsburg goes to 18-11, 10-6 in the PSAC East. The Huskies play at East Stroudsburg on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
