Huskies Continue Busy Week With Home Doubleheaders

STORYLINE
The Huskies look to continue their strong play as of late, having won six of their last eight games entering Monday. The Huskies currently sit second in the PSAC East division, with a record of 18-11 overall, and 10-6 in the conference. Shippensburg stands right behind Bloomsburg in the division with a record of 26-10 overall, and a 12-8 record in the conference. Mansfield is fifth in the PSAC East with a 17-13 record overall, and a 9-11 record in conference play. Bloomsburg plays six doubleheaders this week.

LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies swept a doubleheader against Shippensburg on Saturday, April 19. Bloomsburg took the first game by a score of 13-2, with Chrissy Belko (Old Forge/Old Forge) homering and driving in two runs. Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run) tossed a complete game, striking out five batters in the process. In game two, Erika Yanora (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) led the Huskies to a 6-2 win, tripling and scoring twice. Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) also pitched a complete game, giving up only one earned run and striking out four batters.
 
SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURG
The Raiders come into the matchup having won four of their past six contests. Hilary Lyons leads Shippensburg at the plate, posting a .393 with a team-high 42 hits. Taylor Weisman leads the Raiders with six home runs, 24 runs driven in and a .680 slugging percentage. In the circle, Emily Estep has been dominant all season long. The senior leads the PSAC with 16 wins, a 0.96 earned run average and a .178 opponents' batting average.
 
SCOUTING MANSFIELD
The Mountaineers lineup features one .400 hitter and two other .300 hitters. Senior outfielder Stephanie Simmeth is hitting .400 this year, with six doubles and eight RBI to her credit. Another impressive statistic: in 65 at-bats, she's struck out only seven times. The two other threats in their lineup are senior pitcher Kate Pratt and junior infielder Amanda Goodwin, who are hitting .359 and .319 respectively. Kate Pratt also has an impact in the circle, owning a 6-3 record with a 1.69 ERA. She has thrown seven complete games on the season.

HUSKY BATS STAY HOT
Several Huskies have been riding multi-game hitting streaks over the last few weeks, sparking the team's offense. Chrissy Belko (Old Forge/Old Forge) currently has a nine game hitting streak, batting 13-33 (.393) in the process. Meanwhile, Kayla McHale (Dillsburg/Northern) is also riding a nine game hitting streak, batting 16-35 (.457) and driving in 10 runs during the streak. Finally, Erika Yanora (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) has recorded at least one hit in her last eight games, batting .517 with five doubles in that span.
 
STRONG PITCHING LEADS THE WAY
Pitchers Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run), Sarah Bertoni (Nanticoke/Greater Nanticoke Area) and Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) have led the way for the Huskies this season. The trio has a combined record of 17-9 on the season with 120 strikeouts. Their combined earned run average for the year is 1.72. Parker, Bertoni and Tomaschik have also recorded 19 complete games, as well as five shutouts.
