BLOOMSBURG—In a battle of top 10 teams, the ninth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team fell to third-ranked West Chester on Saturday by a score of 2-0 at Steph Pettit Stadium.

West Chester got on the board first in the 25th minute when Mary Spisak carried the ball into the circle and flicked a shot over the head of Bloomsburg goalie Lindsey Cassel for a 1-0 lead.

Bloomsburg had two scoring attempts late in the half. The first was a shot by
Laura Gerhard (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) with less than five minutes to go, but her shot went wide left. Then with just 12 seconds to play in the half
Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) had a shot attempt go wide right.

The Golden Rams made it 2-0 in the 44th minute when Hannah Davies took a pass from Dayle Paustian from the far post and tipped it in.

Late in the game Bloomsburg did have a series of penalty corner attempts, but did not get off any shots.

In goal West Chester's Sarah Krause made one save, while Bloomsburg's Cassel stopped three shots.

The Golden Rams go to 5-0, 3-0 in the PSAC, while Bloomsburg falls to 2-4, 1-3 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 27 against Shippensburg.
