EAST STROUDSBURG – A header goal from East Stroudsburg's Laurel Neira off a corner kick in overtime allowed the No. 25 Warriors to hold off the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team, 2-1, on Wednesday night.

After being held off the scoreboard for the first 83 minutes by the East Stroudsburg defense, the Huskies found the matching tally in the 84th minute on a header goal from Brooke Mohney (Bigler/Clearfield) to send the match to overtime. Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland) set up the goal off a free kick, finding Mohney in front who was able to do the rest.

Bloomsburg nearly pulled out the game in regulation, launching a flurry of activity in front during the final minutes of the second half. After Mohney's tying goal, Ashley Sanchez (Lyndhurst/DePaul Catholic) fired two shots on goal that were turned away by ESU keeper Jess Hetrick back-to-back before Allie Camp (Beavertown/Midd-West) also shot on goal but was denied by Hetrick.

The Huskies had been seeking the tying goal since East Stroudsburg first got on the board in the 56th minute. The hosts broke through on a header goal from Neira assisted by Amanda Vojta for the 1-0 advantage.

Sanchez recorded the first shot of overtime, but her attempt was saved by Hetrick. That set up East Stroudsburg as the Warriors took advantage of a corner kick opportunity from Amanda Vojta. Neira took Vojta's corner and headed it in for the game-winner in the 97th minute.

It is the second straight match between the two area rivals to go into overtime. Then sixth-ranked East Stroudsburg also pulled out a 2-1 overtime win at Bloomsburg last September.

East Stroudsburg led in shots, 17-11, but Bloomsburg finished with a 9-7 edge in shots on goal.

Bloomsburg, ranked 10th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic Region rankings, is now 4-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the PSAC. East Stroudsburg moves to 5-1, 5-1.

Megan Deak (West Islip, NY/West Islip) made five saves for Bloomsburg while Hetrick turned away seven shots for ESU.

The Huskies return to action Saturday vs. West Chester in another PSAC matchup.
