BLOOMSBURG – Seventh-ranked West Chester kept its record perfect with a 3-0 victory over the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team on Saturday night at Steph Pettit Stadium.
With the win the Golden Rams move to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the PSAC. The Huskies now stand 4-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play.
The Golden Rams broke into the scoring column during the 31st minute. West Chester's Kara Parvel worked into a one-on-one from the sideline to the right of the net, slipping past the Huskies defender and finishing by firing past the goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.
West Chester added to its lead in the 54th minute on a long service in from near midfield by Dana Hunt following a foul in to Lexi Lentz who finished by heading the pass into the net to the right of the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
Bloomsburg nearly broke through in the 57th minute, as
Megan Carroll (Middletown/Middletown Area) slipped free at the top of the box, but her shot was stopped by a diving West Chester keeper to deny the scoring try.
Dana Hunt scored on another header in the 63rd minute to lengthen the West Chester advantage.
Alex Srolis made five saves to earn the win in net.
Megan Deak (West Islip, NY/West Islip) made two saves for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg returns to action on Sept. 30, hosting Kutztown.
