Field Hockey Team Drops Opener

GAFFNEY, SC—The sixth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team dropped its season-opener 3-0 to Limestone College of South Carolina on Saturday.
 
The Saints got on the board in the 12th minute when Rachel Goromonzi took a pass from Stembeni Zhanda in front of the cage and scored.  Limestone made it 2-0 later in the half when Goromonzi scored her second goal of the game when she scored unassisted at the 27:14 mark.
 
In the second half the Saints got an insurance goal when Brittany Carney scored off an assist from Goromonzi fed her with pass from the right side. Carney then delivered a shot to the left side of the goal.
 
Offensively the Huskies got off five shots for the game with four of them coming in the final 35 minutes of play.
 
With the win the Saints go to 2-0 on the season, while Bloomsburg falls to 0-1. The Huskies are back in action on Sunday facing Newberry of South Carolina at 11 a.m.
