SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Host Slippery Rock proved too much for the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team on Wednesday night at Morrow Field House as The Rock prevailed for an 82-55 victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover action.
An early 3-pointer from
Alex Prislupsky (Olyphant/Mid-Valley) gave the Huskies a 7-5 lead less than two minutes in, and the teams were tied at 10-apiece with 16:34 left in the first half when Slippery Rock went on a run to seize control.
The Rock went on a 13-0 break, capped by a layup from Antonio Butler with 9:09 to play in the half for a 23-10 lead, and the hosts held the momentum for the majority of the contest from that point on.
Slippery Rock (12-3, 7-2 PSAC) shot a blistering 8-of-13 from beyond the arc during the first half to race to a 43-22 halftime lead and did not look back.
Alssene Saintilus (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) paced the Huskies with 14 points to reach double-figure scoring for the fourth straight game and 10th time overall this season.
In all, 10 Huskies players worked their way into the scoring column and all 14 players on the active roster saw playing time.
Ashkan Naderi (Herndon, VA/Herndon) posted nine points to lead the bench scoring while freshman
Chandler Junk (Pennsburg/The Perkiomen School) registered his first two career 3-pointers for six points.
Butler netted a game-high 25 points to power The Rock. Frank Holloway recorded 13 points and eight rebounds.
Bloomsburg (6-7, 2-7) will return home to Nelson Field House to host West Chester as PSAC East play resumes on Saturday afternoon with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
